About

What is the Shady Puzzle?

The Shady Puzzle  is a logic-based puzzle game. It was independently developed by Dr Mark Nowacki in 2004,  as a means to teach his students logic concepts in a fresh, new way. To his surprise, many of his students found the puzzle extremely fun and engaging. This overwhelming interest in the puzzle culminated in the publication of two books.

While the Shady Puzzle was independently created, the puzzle concept has also previously existed in various other forms such as Nonograms, Paint by Numbers, Griddlers and Hanjie. Non Ishida is widely credited as the first creator of this genre of puzzles.
